What is 24/7?
24/7 Reference is a large network of libraries around the country working together to provide service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Use 24/7 to access immediate and reliable information from librarians anytime, day or night. Get help with quick reference by sharing Internet and library sources.
How does it Work?
When you select Start Now a form will open at the right. A librarian will pick up your request shortly. The librarian will communicate by sending brief messages, and may take you to various websites. The librarian will ask you questions to gain a better understanding of what you need. It may take several minutes for the librarian to search and send you an answer; an average session lasts ten minutes. The librarian may offer to follow-up by e-mail.
A transcript of our session will be sent to your email at the conclusion. You may follow-up by replying to this message. Entering an email address will also allow the librarian to send you further information on your request.
Who is Answering?
Nashville Public Library is a member of the 24/7 Reference Consortium. When you ask a question using 24/7 Reference chat, your call could be answered by any library in the consortium - you might chat with a librarian at a public library in Baltimore, or you may talk to someone at Nashville Public Library. If the librarian is unable to assist you, your question will be forwarded to a librarian at Nashville Public Library, then we can help you by email. |
